Christmas knitting

Various presents for my friends. All hats are done in Misti Alpaca Chunky. The one with stripes and the one with the button were my own designs and the orange one is the snowball from Interweave Fall 2007 that I keep doing. The gloves are the fetching fingerless gloves from knitty.com
The models on the bottom left are my soul sister, Analisa and my biological sister Addie.

Fetching Fingerless gloves knit on size 6 double pointed needles with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran as the pattern calls for. I really liked the pattern and they knit up quickly. I am not sure I am a big fan of the way this yarn is wearing and tearing for gloves because the yarn seems rather pealy. Soft to hold but disappointed with how they have held up with this yarn. Love the pattern though. Quick easy gift.

Craving Vik's

I am making myself crazy right now....
Instead of making dinner I started looking online for a good samosa recipe and then decided to Google my favorite Indian food restaurant in my town of origin, Vik's Chaat Corner. I am really kicking myself for not having gone there when I was just back home in Berkeley over the holidays. Vik's is this totally funky place that is in a warehouse in the railroad tracks side of town. You order at the register and then wait for your name to be called and then eat your food on paper plates at folding tables. As impromptu as the place is, it is the best food in the whole world. It is the kind of place that even if I spent a week in the kitchen studying the recipes I am sure I would never ever come close to replicating the meals that can be had there. Over the last few years the health department has demanded that the decor improve a bit but it still holds its funkiness.
Sigh....hard to get good Asian food here in NC.

Here are a couple of silly photos of me and a couple of the hats that were gifted over Christmas. Again, Interweave Fall 2007 Snowball hat with Misti Alpaca Chunky.
Thank you hunny for my new L.L. Bean corduroy jacket!

must be my colors

The task now is to do a little catch up and then I can plow ahead to the future. I didn't want to spoil too many Christmas presents so I there are many many knitting projects that I haven't posted in order to keep some secrets. Of course I also had hardly a moment to spare as I knit away trying to finish over 8 knitted Christmas presents and one baby sweater. Not to mention all the fruit and vegi dehydrating I have been doing with my new dehydrator (thank you Noelle!)

This is a hat my own invention for my friend Nick.
This is a gas station stop on the drive down to fly to CA for our second Christmas celebration with my family. My wonderful husband had just given me these Smartwool socks for Christmas and I was struck by how the colors matched my knitting. Misti Alpaca Chunky size 10 needles.
